An important update from the Chair
Posted by Alessia Marrapodi | June 26, 2020
Hi Bay to Birdwood participants, followers and fans
2020 has certainly been a challenging year for many of us. The most recent, and certainly the most challenging reason, has been the COVID-19 pandemic response. The signs are starting to appear that, in South Australia at least, we are returning to a new kind of ‘business as unusual’. After a 10 week closure, we recently reopened the National Motor Museum, and in SA and in other parts of the country, many other public institutions, businesses and public places are reopening – but with many modifications and alterations to how business is being undertaken.
As the Australian, State and Territory Governments further ease restrictions, we are hoping that the Bay to Birdwood will still be able to go ahead this year. The event is just over three months away and we are maintaining a positive planning posture, however, at all times, the health of all our event participants, volunteers, spectators, and team remains are our utmost priority. In the coming weeks we will be seeking clearance from South Australian health and police authorities to hold the event as planned on Sunday 27 September. We will continue to monitor the situation, and keep you up to date as things evolve. Meanwhile, thank you for your ongoing support and patience, and we ask you to have a safe and enjoyable lead-up to the 40th anniversary of one of the world’s great historic motoring events.
Please keep up to date with the event by ensuring you have subscribed to our e-news through our website, and/or have liked and are following the Bay to Birdwood Facebook page. We will communicate all updates through these platforms.
Should you have further questions or concerns, please contact us directly via email at baytobirdwood@history.sa.gov.au or phone the Museum on 08 8568 4000.
Warm regards
Michael Neale
