Introduced in 2016, the Preservation Award is a category for vehicles that have not been restored or modified, but still present in excellent original condition.
The interest in untouched and largely preserved vehicles has been growing within the historic motor vehicle movement for many years. The Bay to Birdwood acknowledges this interest with the award.
Award Rules
- All vehicles must comply with the Conditions of Entry.
- All occupants of vehicles entered in Bay to Birdwood award categories should present in period-correct style clothing attire aligned with the production date of the vehicle.
- As a Preservation Award entrant, your vehicle must be presented in a suitable condition* for the competition.
- *Suitable condition means a well-presented vehicle without restoration or significant modification. Vehicles in an unroadworthy condition will be flagged as such to the Director of Judges by the Chief Scrutineer and may be excluded from the competition.
- At least three photos which clearly display your vehicle as it will be shown on the day must be submitted with your entry form.
- Drivers/riders must stay with their vehicle until judging is completed on both days, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October 2025.
- Award vehicles must complete the Bay to Birdwood from the West Beach Start to the National Motor Museum grounds on Sunday 19 October 2025 to qualify as winners or finalists in their category.
- There will be a stage presentation to the winner(s) during the Bay to Birdwood Finish event.
- Minor modifications aimed at ensuring roadworthiness and safety of the vehicle (e.g., electric starters, seat belts) are permitted.
- If you decide to withdraw from the award for any reason, please advise the Organisers as soon as possible to avoid any confusion on the day. Refunds of award category fees are not available.
- All judging will be undertaken by an expert panel.
- All finalists will be presented with a finalist certificate.
- There will be only one overall winner for each category.
